Good to know

Is it free?

Yes, completely free. If you'd like, you can tip on Ko-fi to buy Tamamon a snack — but you never have to.

What does it read?

Only your Claude usage numbers — your current session and weekly totals, read through your existing Claude Code login. It never sends your code, files, or conversations anywhere.

Do I need to connect an account?

No. Tamamon just reads your Claude usage to grow — no extra login and no API key required.

What happens if I don't code for a while?

It gets hungry and sulks, and a quick feed brings it bouncing right back. But it's a real creature, not a decoration: left completely alone for days — or fed far too much — it can quietly pass on, just like the classic virtual pets it takes after. The gentle part: a well-raised adult leaves behind an egg, so a new friend hatches to carry the story forward. A little daily attention is all it asks.

Which Macs are supported?

macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, on Apple Silicon.

Does it use up my Claude usage?

No. Tamamon only reads your usage totals to grow your pet — it never sends messages or spends tokens of its own.

How does it read my usage without a login?

It reuses the Claude Code login already on your Mac, stored safely in your keychain — so there's no extra sign-in and no API key to paste.

How do I hide, quit, or uninstall it?

Everything lives in the Tamamon icon in your menu bar: show or hide the pet, bring it back to the center of your screen if it wanders off, or quit. To uninstall, quit Tamamon and drag it from your Applications folder to the Trash — that's it. It runs only while it's open (it never adds a login item), and the only thing it ever fetches is your own Claude usage count — never your code or files — so nothing of yours lingers in the background.
